Hike Schedule — 17 Comments

  1. I am getting ready to hike the PCT starting May 31,2015 to Sept 31,2015.It is the first time I have ever hiked or back packed. I am leaving from Tehachapi, Ca. and going North. I am looking for someone to hike with as this is the first. I hope to hear from you soon.Until then,Jerry

    • I tried to look for the Facebook page, but it didn’t link up when I clicked the link.
I want to do a hike for former foster “orphans” (people that timed out of foster care when they turned 18, or were emancipated out with no family to lean/rely on) that have struggled with depression, homelessness, and other obstacles.
I am a former foster, and I have struggled all my life to cope with the emotional, and psychological damage that I endured from my family, foster families, and subsequent dysfunctional personal relationships. I was thinking of embarking on my hike on my birthday in May this year. My hope is to raise awareness for older (or any) former foster kids that were basically abandoned at 18.
I want to find a way to help them now. I have a few ideas, but I don’t know where to start 🙂

      • Hi Susan,

Our Facebook page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/iHIKE/.

Regarding your question, your cause sounds like a worthy one. While our focus is on raising funds for mental health research, I will send you an email with my contact information so that we can talk about ideas that might help you get started. Thanks,

        Leo

  2. I live in San Diego. Me and my husband are bulgarian and use to hike a lot in our country. we don,t have a car and stile don’t know the aria. We moved in San Diego in 2007. I am mental ill . If you have a hike here in the aria please call us.

    • Hi Boriana, Our closest hike to you right now is in Santa Clarita, a little north of LA. That is probably too far away for you. Keep checking the schedule – we are always adding events.

Hey everyone in the San Diego area, anyone want to lead a HIKE for Mental Health there? Let me know if you are interested in learning more.

      Leo

  3. Hi I live in New Jersey (central part) and missed the hike on May 22. Is anyone planning another hike in NJ or PA?

    • Hi Nina. Yes, we have volunteer hike organizers who are working on hikes near Delaware Water Gap and also near Bear Mountain, NY for late summer or the fall. If you want to be notified of new hikes when they are posted, just subscribe to this site using the field on the upper left of this page. Thanks!

  4. I have several different ones I would like to add for next summer. All in the San Jaun Mountains Colorado. Anywhere from 6-12+miles RT out and back.

  5. Leaving tomorrow for Barcelona, Spain. I will be hiking the Camino Frances, from St. Jean Pied-de-Port, France, across the Pyrenees and to Compostela, Spain. It will be about 500+ miles. I hope to fund raise for Hike for Mental Health.

  6. Hi I’m wondering if there’s any groups in Minnesota preferably more towards the North Shore that possibly hike the SHT (Superior Hiking Trail)
    Thanks

    • Hi Terra, thanks for the question. Unfortunately, we do not have any planned hikes in Minnesota yet this year. We are an all-volunteer group, so we rely completely on volunteer hike organizers. If you know folks that might want to volunteer to lead a hike in the area, we are happy to work with them on it. Minnesota is gorgeous state for hiking and paddling.
