Your Little Grand Canyon of Georgia hike is next weekend!

HIKE for Mental Health Posted on September 21, 2022 by Leo WalkerSeptember 21, 2022

NAME_OF_HIKER,

Your Providence Canyon hike with HIKE for Mental Health and hike organizer Katherine is 1 week away! We look forward to seeing you there! Here's what you need to know.

Getting started

Date: Saturday, October 1, 2022
Start time: Check-in is from 7:30-8 am. The hike will begin at 8am.
Location: Meet in the parking lot next to the Visitors Center of Providence Canyon State Park, 8930 Canyon Rd, Lumpkin, GA 31815. For Google Map directions to the parking lot, click here.
The plan:

Check in next to the Visitors Center by 8am. There is a $5 fee to park.

We will have two hiking options for the day: a 2.5 mile loop hike through nine of the canyons, and a 7 mile into the canyon and along an old logging road. Refer back to the maps on this page for additional detail on the routes.

Est. finish time: Each hike will end back at the starting point by around 3pm. If you wish to socialize further after the hike, hike organizer Katarine has some options for refreshments nearby.
Pets: Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a 6 ft. lead, but be mindful that not everyone is a dog-lover; keep your pet under your direct control at all times.

What to bring

Clothing

  • comfortable, loose-fitting hiking clothing, not made of cotton
  • waterproof shell or windbreaker

  • Snacks and a lunch for the trail

Other items you may want to consider

  • Cash for parking and post-hike refreshments
  • cell phone

Let's hike!

That's about it. If you have any questions at all, please ask. Katherine will be your hike leader. You can reach her via her cell phone at (770) 630-2692 with any questions the morning of the hike.

Thank you for being part of the hike and for helping raise $$$ and awareness to help eliminate the suffering from mental illness and the stigma that surrounds it.
