Hello everyone,
I joined the South Jersey Hikerbabes in the Fall of 2021, since then I’ve met amazing women who empower one another. At first I was super nervous and in my head; negative thoughts racing. Will I be accepted, I am too slow etc. I was totally wrong, this group accepted we with open arms. I never felt unwelcome and slowly I became fearless.
This group has been very accepting which is why I want to share a passion of mine with this group. Back in 2015, I learned about Hike for Mental Health. I realized over the years how important nature plays a role to improve our mental health so I’ve been joining various hikes over the years. As a strong woman, who gets overwhelmed with anxiety I understand how nature and using mindfulness skills help improve the soul.
I would like my fellow trail sisters to join me on this journey. I want to go out of my comfort zone and keep improving my hiking skills so I’d like to hike the Batsto Lake Trail in the beautiful Pine Barrens. It’s 4 miles and allows us to extend the hike for those who are interested. We can decide about adding miles that day. I want to make this event open to all levels.
I’m so thankful to have the help of our ambassadors to assist with this project. There are many ways to support this cause. You can donate, join the hike, share the page with other hikerbabes or send us a supportive message. If you like a Hike for Mental Health shirt you can go to their main page and purchase one. Let’s cover the Pine Barrens in orange!!!!
We chose to join a hike with HIKE for Mental Health to help stamp out the stigma of mental illness and conserve wilderness trails.
Thank you.
