Goal: $1,000.00

$575.00 donated
I chose to join a hike with HIKE for Mental Health in memory of my mother. She was a brilliant and creative spirit who immigrated to the US from Brazil after earning advanced degrees from B.U on scholarship.
My parents were married for 15 years before deciding to start a family (with me). Unfortunately, the changes in biochemistry with pregnancy at age 40 prompted delusions that led to multiple hospitalizations.
The psychotropic medications used to affect her condition had debilitating side effects, including severe lethargy and cognitive numbness. She deserved better treatment, so I hike to support research and to conserve wilderness trails, the use of which can positively affect mental clarity.
