Georgia will show its HIKE for Mental Health orange in 2014, thanks to volunteer hike organizer MJ Bridges’s Raven Cliff Falls hike on June 7. Only four more states are needed now to reach fourteen hikes in fourteen states in 2014 for our 14 in ’14 program.
Raven Cliff Falls is an amazing 5 mile hike past waterfall after cascading waterfall along a babbling trout streat, culminating in 400 foot Raven Cliff Falls crashing through massive towering cliffs.
As MJ says,
It is simply one of the most peaceful beautiful hikes I have done. The distance and the trail makes for a good hike even for the inexperienced hiker. It is truly a hike that gets you back to nature and in harmony with mother earth.
She goes on to explain,
I want to organize this hike because I can, I can for those who cannot. Suffering from mental health issues often confines a person and shuts them out. Not because they desire that, but because they are held hostage by something very few of us understand. It is my hope in some small way, I can say I am trying to understand and I want to help.
HIKE for Mental Health made committing to do this hike so easy. Not only is it a cause I am passionate about but it is a way to help by doing something i so love – HIKING. Knowing where the money is going also makes for a good feeling.
I hike because I can for those who cannot, and Janet Shelton Fugett, this one is for you.
Thank you, MJ.
