Pearland Counseling Center Receives $2,500 from Veterans Day Walk
On Monday, HIKE for Mental Health presented Counseling Connections for Change (CCC) with a check for $2,500 from the proceeds of the 2016 Pearland Veterans Day Walk.
Counseling Connections for Change is a nonprofit organization, based in Pearland, TX, created to strengthen mental health in Brazoria County. Accepting the check are CEO Dawn Lawless and Chief Development Officer Charlotte Selvera.
“There is so much need here,” says Dawn. “This year we have had to turn away more than 500 requests for help due to lack of resources. We really appreciate this support.”
Charlotte and her team exhibited at and helped to promote the Pearland Veterans Day Walk, which honors area veterans and raises money for programs that supports mental health programs for veterans battling PTSD and other inner challenges as a result of their service.
Without the support of our generous business sponsors and the hundreds of walk participants, this contribution to CCC would not be possible. This year’s gold sponsors include Cooling Tower Depot, the Rees family, Nancy Kozanecki, Glen & Linda Rider, LyondellBasell, and Mercer Insurance Agency.
We also appreciate sponsorships from Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital, MHI Compressor, North Brazoria County Democratic Club, Pearland Democrats Club, Westside Veterinary Hospital, Whataburger, Kings Biergarten, Marvin Monk, Glen and Linda Rider, H-E-B, Southern Crushed Concrete, Pearland City Councilman Gary Moore, BAKfish Brewing, Betsy Maggard AVON, Gentle Dental, Mike’s Ice House, Judge Matt Sebesta, Constable Buck Stevens, Friends Uncorked, and Graphic Icons.
