Moving forward means putting one foot in front of the other‘, I’ve decided to hike a section of the Appalachian Trail for my 41st birthday next weekend. This is something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m excited to finally achieve this goal, even if just for a few days and in recovery mode. But I know the hike will help with that recovery.
I’m dedicating this hike to raising awareness for mental health. If you feel inclined to show me some support, please do so by helping me to support OTHERS with your contributions. 100% of the funds we raise from this hike will go to HIKE for Mental Health – an organization committed to helping people living with mental illnesses cope and heal through backcountry hikes. This cause is important to me because I have managed issues with emotional fitness and depression my entire adult life. I want to do what I can to eliminate the social stigma that’s attached to individuals suffering from depression. The fear of being a burden on others causes many to feel even more alone and depressed and I think it’s time we stop ignoring that problem. This organization shares my belief that everyone should be able to find the simple joy of living. And I know I find my joy when connecting with Nature.
Thanks to everyone for their show of support!
