In the past few years hiking has changed my life by helping me cope with my anxiety, and by giving me a sense of confidence that I would never have discovered outside of the mountains. The Pemigewasset Loop is a thirty-five mile hiking loop ascending twelve 4,000 footers with over 11,000 feet of elevation gain. It’s considered one of the most difficult, grueling one-day hikes in the Northeast and a huge personal challenge for me. I chose to join a hike with HIKE for Mental Health to help stamp out the stigma of mental illness and conserve wilderness trails.
