We all know someone who has been affected by mental health challenges. We also all know someone who wasn’t able to access mental health services due to cultural/societal stigma and/or limited affordability.
As individuals who’ve experienced mental health challenges and resorted to hiking to help address them, we chose to summit Mt. Washington with HIKE for Mental Health to help stamp out the stigma of mental illness and conserve wilderness trails.
The donation money will be used to fund mental health research, as well as wilderness trail conservation. Mental health research is very underfunded and studies have shown that it is often lack of research funding and staffing, rather than stigma, that are the biggest fundraising challenges for mental health charities.
