Dear family and friends,
This summer I am embarking on a 12 day backpacking trek with a dear friend along the Pacific Crest Trail from Yosemite National Park to just south of Lake Tahoe. It will push my physical and mental limits but I am excited for the adventure. As part of the journey, I am dedicating the trek to raising awareness and funding for mental health, though an organization called Hike for Mental Health (www.hikeformentalhealth.org). HFMH organizers hikes for those with mental health challenges as part of a healing, de-stigmatizing and life-affirming experience. They also set up fundraisers such as mine to support mental health research through the Brain and Behavioral Research Foundation (https://www.bbrfoundation.org/about) as well as supporting the Pacific Crest Trail Association.
I hope to raise $1008 (a sacred number in several spiritual traditions including Judaism) from family and friends who wish to join me in this effort. Thank you for your consideration.
In community,
Jonathan
