The pandemic has been causing increased symptoms of depression and anxiety for many people. Including me. As a mental health clinician, I have seen first hand the ways in which we are all struggling. And the thing that has kept me much healthier than I might be otherwise has been hiking. Without the time I have spent hiking this summer, I know I would be deeper into my own depression, and less able to support others.
I am hiking this October to support myself and others who use hiking as a coping skill and emotional support for their mental health. This fundraiser is my motivation to keep getting out on the trails even though it’s getting colder.
