I am hiking in memory of my brother, Jesse, who lost his battle with bipolar disorder on October 18, 2019. In 1990, Jesse and I, just teenagers at the time, attempted to climb Mt. Fuji together. We never made it to the summit, but we had an incredible experience. Each obstacle we faced along the way, we lifted each other up, sometimes quite literally! Jesse’s love of the outdoors, his spirit of adventure, humor and spontaneity will be with me forever. Each mile I hike, each summit I peak, is in his honor.
