Map and Trail Guide for Mt Washington
NAME_OF_HIKER,
A few updates…
Hot of the press are an updated map and trail guide. They are linked from our Important Info for Summit Mt. Washington page. You can download and print them out.
Also, we will NOT have a volunteer at the Gulfside Trail junction so watch the sign there carefully. The sign is well-marked and points the direction to Mt Washington, 1.4 miles away. And on the return, it points the 3.7 mile way on the Jewell Trail back to the Base Station.
Quick notes
Arrival: Arrive at Cog parking lot and follow signs to park in the HFMH designated area. We will provide you with a special envelope so that your parking fee is $10 per/car. Plan on having exact change please.
Registration: Visit us at the registration table. We will have 3 sections arranged by alphabet. Go to the section that your last name starts with. We will also let you know if we have a t-shirt for you that day. If you purchase Cog tickets for your return trip, they will also be provided at this time.
Community Art Project: If you would like to participate, please proceed to this table.
Start your hike! You will see HFMH folks along your hike (they will be wearing arm bands). Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you might have.
Tree Line: There will be a HFMH person stationed here. They will help guide you on whether you have enough time to continue to the top or if it would be best to turn around.
Gulf Junction: There will be a HFMH person posted here just to make sure you take the correct route to the summit.
Register at the summit: That way we know you made it safely and how you plan on returning to the base.
New this year: We have reserved an entire car on the Cog Railroad train. If you plan to hike up but want to ride down, you will need to purchase your ticket from us online in advance. Seats are limited. All the details can be found here: Paint the Cog Orange.
Return: When you return to the Cog, we will have someone there until 5:30pm.
Go get some food. You worked hard and need some sustenance.
