It is from Rosa, the VA nurse whose ward is the beneficiary of our Veterans Day walk. She cares mostly for active duty service men and women in a lock-down unit of her hospital. At her request, we sent her a set of DVD’s focused on coping with depression, anger, and other emotions common in the aftermath of active duty.
Here is her note:
Thank you and your volunteers for the wonderful donation sent for our soldier/patients! These DVDs will undoubtedly help them to better learn and practice new ways to cope. They will be better able to think and react in a manner more acceptable to themselves and to others.
Our young warriors carry the heaviest of burdens in their minds and your cherished gifts will help them to heal.
I am most thankful! Please know that you are held in the highest of esteem.
Most Respectfully Yours,
P.S. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
The challenges of coping with severely stressful and traumatic situations are not unique to service men and women. One out of four Americans battles some form of major mental illness at some point in their lives.
Your donations to HIKE for Mental Health really do make a difference. Thank you.
Closing out 2013
P.S. I would be remiss not to mention that there are 3 more DVD’s in the set that Rosa requested at $98 each. If anyone wants to make an extra gift today or tomorrow before our books close for 2013 as part of your holiday observance, we will make sure it goes to the right place. Thanks.
