We are excited to announce our first HIKE for Mental Health in Tennessee. In the words of hike organizer Renee Hay,
Dolly Stevens & I are organizing this hike in memory of Dolly’s son, Matthew Tootle. Matt was in love with hiking and fully understood the mental health benefits that hiking brings.
Matt seems to be encouraging us, from heaven now, to invite others to experience the benefits. Please join us in this amazingly beautiful area to celebrate Nature, life, and good mental health. These are things Matt stood for.
Thank you, Renee and Dolly for organizing this attraction-filled hike. What a great way to honor and celebrate Matt’s life.

For a Good Cause
HIKE for Mental Health is an all-volunteer organization.
All contributions to this hike support our mission causes.
Eighty percent will fund scientific research into causes, treatments and cures for major mental illness such as PTSD, schizophrenia, bipolar spectrum disorders, and depression.
The remaining twenty percent maintains the wilderness trails on which we hike through non-profit trail maintenance organizations.
Come out and join us in Sparta on June 28-29 – we will have a great time for a great cause.
Details about parking and start times will be provided to registered hikers.
An avid naturalist, Matt Tootle was most at home when hiking, camping and spending time in nature. He died tragically in an automobile accident in November 2013. This hike honors his memory and celebrates his life.
